Spring fishing is full swing with the rivers rising and open water on Superior. We are watching the rivers rise as I type this report and we are looking at warm temperatures and even some rain over the next couple days. Look for the rivers to rise and take a stain which means our spring steelhead run is underway. The past couple weeks we have seen a trickle of fresh fish and some nice holdovers, but with the rivers coming up fast the chrome fish will be coming in. River mouth and harbor fishing has been steady with many Coho being caught on hair jigs. Spawn, crawlers and hardware are also taking fish. River fisherman are using the usual stuff with spawn and beads being the most popular. The local fly fishermen are throwing clown eggs, buggers and a variety of nymphs. Streamers are working, but the bite has been slow with the cold temps. The shop is well stocked with a variety of fishing backpacking gear. Check out our online store for some of our offerings. We appreciate all the support this spring!
Guided fishing trips are available for steelhead and we will start running those next week.
Our logo Simms BugStopper shirts are in and they look great! It won't be long before the bugs are out.
