Spring Days
The weather has really been cooperating for us in the Central U.P. with consistent warm weather with periods of rain. River levels vary widely and if you are looking for steelhead look for the streams with good flow. There are a few left that are holding water.Water temperatures are now steady in the mid to upper 40's with a few streams pushing 50. Lakes are open for the most part and the inland season is underway with most people targeting pre spawn smallmouth and perch. Smelt runs are on for both Lk. MI and Lk. Superior streams and some are doing pretty well on the nights that they find them, River mouth fishing remains solid with all the smelt around. Coho and steelhead are the main targets out there. Guiding wise we will be switching our focus to bass and trout soon as most of the steelhead entering are hitting gravel quickly with the water temps climbing fast. Look for limited dry fly action in the next week. One of our main rivers has hit 50 degrees and we are just waiting on flows to settle down. It is a great time to explore the U.P. and if you need some direction or a guide give us a call!
