I ordered the smallest version of the reel for my Orvis 3wt but haven't fished with it yet. I ordered the reel, line and backing at the same time. I didn't see an option for having the shop put the line and backing on the reel so didn't worry about it, easy enough to do. The shop called my and asked if I would like them to take care of it. A big plus for customer service. The reel arrived ahead of schedule, 2 days after ordering. The reel feels really tight. There is zero noticeable play between the spool and frame. Machining of the reel looks very nice with no rough spots or apparent imperfections. There is a slight audible click as line pulls out, might be louder than perceived but my hearing is not good. The drag goes from min to max without a lot of rotation and seems smooth. How well it holds up to an old guy falling down on a rocky stream is yet to be seen but I'm happy with the quality of the reel at its price point. I see no reason not to purchase again if needed.
