Upper Peninsula Ice Fishing report
What a strange winter we have had in the central Upper Peninsula. We have been ice fishing since late November, but with the temperatures fluctuating we have been stuck with foot traffic only on many lakes. Currently we are looking at 4-10 inches of ice in the area and often slushy conditions. Lake Superior has seen a few people out, but with the warm up the ice has deteriorated. It is going to take prolonged temps in the teens or lower before Superior is fish able again. The rivers are opening up quickly though and fly and float fishing has been fairly productive for most. The fly shop is well stocked with the best selection of tying materials in the Upper Peninsula and our tying class is meeting on Tuesdays at 6:15 PM.
